I remember a group of folks starting a book club in the past, and I was wondering if people would like to resurrect it.

I just bought "The Coming Anarchy: Shattering the Dreams of the Post Cold War" by Robert Kaplan (not a book about anarchy as a social/political theory, just in case the titled scared you off). After reading about half of the introduction, I am absolutely fascinated. It might be kind of a "scare book", a la "The Long Emergency" (about peak oil), but I think it will also shed a lot of light on our history of militarization, the by products of that on the American psyche, and the effect that our "disillusionment" after great conflicts (ie post WWI Wilsonianism) has on the rest of the world.

So if people want to join me in discussion about this book, I would be really excited. We could try to have a meetup, or we could do it over the blog.

The Coming Anarchy

I got the book through Timberland library, will be a bit before I read it, but will do so soon. I think Timberland has two copies.

I like the idea of resurrecting the book club.
