Olympia Voter-Owned Elections
Informational/Organizing Meeting
7pm, Wednesday July 2
Traditions Cafe
300 5th Ave SW Olympia

Adopting a system of "Voter-Owned Elections" will:

  • Eliminate financial barriers to running for local office for persons demonstrating community support
  • Expand voters' choice of candidates
  • Allow candidates to focus on public issues instead of fundraising
  • Discourage excessive campaign spending
With the recent passage of the "Local Option" bill, public financing of local elections is possible once again in Washington State! Talk has started in the Olympia area of bringing "Voter-Owned Elections" here.

An informational/organizing meeting to work towards putting public campaign financing for the City of Olympia Mayor and City Council races on the ballot will be held on Wednesday July 2, 7pm. This regularly scheduled meeting will occur on the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm and replaces the previously planned third Tuesday meeting.

Please forward this to anyone you know who might be interested.

Help needed with this upcoming event:

The TCProNet Summer Picnic will be held at Sherri Goulet's house on Sunday July 13th 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Olympia Voter-Owned Elections is one of the co-sponsors. We will need help with the picnic set up and clean up, with potluck dishes for the picnic and with some small donations to help offset our share of the cost of the picnic. To help with this contact Monica Hoover at 943-3070 or thurston@washclean.org

Thanks,

Monica Hoover
member, Olympia Voter-Owned Elections Steering Committee.

Olympia Voter-Owned Elections is a project of the Thurston County Chapter of Washington Public Campaigns.
