In light of the Daily O's top story today, I thought these should be shared. Olympia's finest hard at work!

Uhhhmmmm

As far as I can tell, they are hard at work. Am I not getting this? I assume you're being sarcastic, but it looks like they're actually working.

And, if you're trying to point out which officers responded that night, that's already public knowledge. The police department can't hide that information.

Did the Police Incite Violence?

Did police enter the situation and attempt to resolve the impasse by use of force without making an attempt, or exhausting the possible options of resolution by means other than the use of brute force and chemical weapons?

It is an entirely legitimate question to ask if the tactics that the police employed were, indeed, part of the problem. Did police actions escalate tensions and lead to further violence?

No.

No.

What do you think RW?...

...and Rob, why do you ask the question?

Not this argument again?

Preemptively "letting go."

yeah

I don't see what your trying to say, photos of police officers, big deal, as far as I can tell they are not doing anything illegal in these pictures so what's the point of putting them up? These officers are already public figures so there privacy isn't infringed upon.

Certain reactionary elements

In town don't like anyone using any sort of force for any reason....  unless it's by their group.  Any effort by the government to defend itself or the public is automatically a no no.  But breaking windows, blockading traffic, shutting down streets, moving dumpsters, smashing patrol cars and spray painting things are always OK.  Things have been too quiet so I guess it's time to dig stuff up from 6 months ago.

And people wonder why I pack heat in nice peaceful Oly...

You're making some pretty broad and unfounded generalizations here. If you know something specific, please tell. Otherwise, I'd appreciate it if you would avoid such characterizations.

Rick...

I think we both know there are some reactionary elements in this community.  I was refering to the fring wackjobs, the sort that usually breaks windows and engages in violence in protests.  Those are who I am refering too.  I apologize if I offended you.

I don't wonder why you pack heat.

But I am quite certain it has nothing to do with the disturbances you described.

cops...standing in a crowd....

no gas masks, no visible batons, no guns drawn, what is the point of these pictures? It looks to me like a bunch of cops working crowd control, nicely even. If anything I would say these pictures show cops in a good light.
