Some point and shoot digital cameras are equipped for macro photography. Sometimes there is an icon that looks like a potted flower with a few petals to select the macro feature. My Nikon Coolpix is like that.
My old point and shoot is actually better equipped than my SLR (because I don't have a macro lens on the SLR). But, with a little creative cropping, I can make it appear to be zoomed in. Crispness in detail just isn't the same though.
