Ben Berkowitz recently completed  Polish Bar , his second feature film as a writer/director, withproducer Effie T. Brown's Duly Noted Inc. Polish Bar stars Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Judd Hirsch, Vincent Piazza,Golden Brooks, Meat Loaf, James Badge Dale and Richard Belzer.
Ben co-wrote and directed STRAIGHTMAN with his Benzfilm inc partner Ben Redgrave, which played at BERLINALE and won best screenplay at OUTFEST LA, he has produced several feature documentaries and recently  co-wrote and directed POLISH BAR which will make its world premiere next month at the Chicago International film festival.

A terrific group of actors all agreed to do the film including Rock star / actor Meatloaf, Oscar nominee Judd Hirsch, James Badge Dale star of AMC's Rubicon and from HBO's THE PACIFIC and cult hero Richard Belzer.and Vincent Piazza from Scorsese's new HBO series Board Walk Empire. POLISH BAR is  a family drama set in a very Brooklyn-esque area of Chicago called Polish village that now has one o the largest Polish communities in the world rivaling even large cities in Poland. It is a drama about a Jewish kid  from an orthodox Jewish family in the jewelry business who aspires to be a HIp Hop DJ and starts hanging out at a local strip club djing with his Polish best friend and selling drugs to make quick money until he gets arrested and that Jewish family is all he has left and he has to take what steps he can to try to make amends with them.
