Let us reflect upon the last 7 yrs..

Maybe a few words from the members of the Olyblog community about how they feel President Bush & VP Dick Cheney (enumerated perhaps & concise..)

(Note: This is not a place to attack each other, or to fantasize about Bill Clinton’s penis)

Obviously a shill

No one person is as arrogant as he appears.  Bush is a shill for something bigger than any of us can imagine.

A traditional dictatorship wouldn't allow for wealth and spending, but putting a system in place where those that have, spend and those that don't have, have to spend is the perfect marketplace for business profits beyond belief.

As example - oil companies and military industrial complex.

Me next!

The awkward thing about judging presidents is that the only yardstick we have is former presidents and other heads of state around the world. Former presidents didn't have to deal with some of the issues that we currently face (globalization, climate change, terrorism, etc.), and other heads of state deal with them in different ways due to differences in cultural expecations and political structures. So, it's really a wide-open field, with a few imprecise comparisons and lots of opinions. We can hypothesize about what Lincoln would do if he were president now, or what it would be like if Lloyd Benson had been elected, or how Jacque Chirac would have dealt with this or that decision, but what it really comes down to is our individual limited understanding of the issues and the available options. That is why democracy works--because if we can all talk about what we want and what we think is possible, if we can collaboratively define the problem and come up with solutions among ourselves, we might actually arrive at a pretty good state of the union. Discuss.

Mmm... not with ya there.

The American people may be at risk of proving that our democracy DOESN'T work.  I mean, we might well have a great process for electing people (or not), but that will hardly matter if we fail to survive our decisions.  No people, no democracy.

Thanks Phil,

although I would disagree with your critique of GWB below, at least it was substantive.

you missed the "if", dude.

you missed the "if", dude. Thanks for writing it off, though. This blog could use a little resignation-cynicism-pessimism shot right about now.
