Rally and March called to Save Nuke Free Zone Olympia Rally at the Knoll, Capitol Lake Park Tuesday, September 9th

  • 4:30 PM Rally - 5 PM March to City Hall
  • 6 PM Arrive at City Hall and Welcome City Hall Members
  • 7 PM City Council Meeting / Public Testimony begins at 7

WHAT IS THIS MADNESS

The City Council wants to REPEAL our Nuclear Free Zone Ordinance so they can contract with NUCLEAR WEAPONS INVESTORS that threaten to bring WORLD ANNIHILATION by giving their money to the US NUCLEAR WEAPONS INDUSTRY

The Nuclear Free Zone Ordinance was adopted - with great support by the members of this community - in August, 2005 at the 60th Anniversary of the US nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It stops the city from contracting with businesses that invest in the nuclear weapons industry.

Stop THIS MADNESS and come to the Rally, then March to City Hall in time to WELCOME the council members to the first council meeting they've had to attend since announcing they would vote to repeal the ordinance - and then went on vacation.

Rally Called by Members of Nuke Free Oly, NI-NWI-WA (No Interests in Nuclear Weapons Investors or World Annihilation)

all forms of creative protest welcome welcome welcome bring noise machines and musical instruments mushroom clouds sunflowers and prop nuclear bombs whatever you imagine the end is near.

You make a

You make a couple statements in here that just aren't true.  Stop spinning it into something that it is not.

Each of these is a false statement:

The City Council wants to REPEAL our Nuclear Free Zone Ordinance so they can contract with NUCLEAR WEAPONS INVESTORS that threaten to bring WORLD ANNIHILATION by giving their money to the US NUCLEAR WEAPONS INDUSTRY.

The council is repealing the ordinance because it is unenforceable.  If you're unclear here, ask the council directly.  Stop making stuff up.

Great support?  It was a council vote.  No vote for the people.  Also, it does not stop the city from contracting with business who have a hand in the nuke business.  The city has contracts with businesses who fall into this category and section 6.B gives the city an out should there be a financial burden.

Hmm...

Can we put up a survey for people that are for the NFZ, that just asks simple questions, like:

Have you ever used post-it notes? Do you have smoke detectors in your home? Do you have a computer? Have you ever used an appliance by GE? Do you have a thermostat or HVAC system by Honeywell? Do you have a cellphone or other electronics by SIEMENS (which has its hand in almost all tech infrastructures at state and local levels) Do you or someone you know drive a Mitsubishi? I sure hope nobody shows up to the rally in one. Do you know someone in the city or county that works for BOEING?

Congratulations! You are threatening to bring WORLD ANNIHILATION and are doing business with the NUCLEAR WEAPONS INDUSTRY!

Something tells me that people that are for the NFZ probably haven't changed their daily lives to not support nuclear corps. These things touch all of our lives, but who is really willing to support the NFZ (which does nothing) AND change their daily lives to reflect their support.

I don't think anyone took out all their smoke detectors or quit driving, but I could be wrong.
