One of my favorite bands REBECCA RIOTS is coming to Olympia again on their Northwest tour. If you get a chance to see them I recommend you do.

... They will be at The Artisan Café in Olympia this Sunday at 7:00 pm. ~ 109 N. Capitol Way. For info call 360-570-2202

Read more on this band, including links to music clips, on Inside the Outsider.

This is interesting, but I

This is interesting, but I thought at first you were going to report about Olyblog user Rebecca being mad as Hell about something and not taking it anymore.

I'm in a speakerless spot at the moment - what is their music like?

»

And then I could've just

And then I could've just done some research myself. From their wikipedia entry:

Musically Rebecca Riots is upbeat, energized folk music. They do three part harmonies, guitar, mandolin and harmonica. On stage, the three women are charismatic, funny, and inspiring. Songs and between-song banter touch on a range of issues, including combating homophobia; gay-straight alliance; police accountability; healing through interfaith spiritual practice (the three musicians are Christian, Jewish, and Buddhist); caring for the country’s homeless; prisoner’s rights; positive body image for women; building with straw bale; gratitude toward nature; facing death and loss; anti-apartheid work; Palestinian rights; love and support of children and teens; and good old celebratory love songs.

Their name's taken from this historical occasion.

Music

The quote is from the blog I linked to, unfortunately I can't help with the description of music, I'm in migraine land and not listening to much if any. You could ask Gabi Clayton on her blog, let us know if you learn more, thanks!

Sorry about the Migraine -

Sorry about the Migraine - I've started getting them the last couple years when I've never had them before. I need darkness and silence to get out of mine.

Do you get the flashing lights in your vision when you have them? I usually do - and sometimes I just have the lights without the headache (which I would prefer if I had a choice)

»

I have a friend who gets the visual effects without the pain.

I didn't know that could happen. He's never actually had the headache part.

Yeah

Migraines don't have to include the head pain part, some people even get what are called abdominal migraines.

migraines

Sometimes I get lights, usually not. I do get increased sense of smell often before the head pain hits. Darkness and silence help me too.

Poor thing

Go lay down Sarah!

I found a CD of Rebecca
