Saturday "open" thread

I'm getting this started, calling it an "open thread" but it's really an opportunity to "exercise" and/or "exorcise" all those little "humorous", "snarkey", "sarcastic" etc. et al, names and comments about stereotypical hogwash, that we know is untrue but keep it going anyway.

I'm betting that the participation in the thread will be low to none.

Have at it.

I'm a Democrat and a

I'm a Democrat and a graduate of Evergreen State College. Does that mean I'm an uber liberal greener?

Ok, then why don't I feel like one?

How about?

I'm a social liberal and a fiscal conservative.  What's that make me?  Annonymous Larry

Scared!  Just kidding.

No need to kid, DJW

I'm scared we can't manage our money well enough to make sure that the "least of us" is cared for.

I'm worried about my chickens again.

I covered up their little coop but nevertheless, they're just sitting in mud in there. The ground is so wet and soggy and mucky. My poor girls! They need a park bench.

what about me?

yesterday TERRORIST cyclists decided to make decisions for me by blocking traffic downtown. where do they get off donating money and toys to homeless children?!? they're homeless FOR A REASON. what if i had to go to a hospital and i DIED because those terrorists wanted to have a tantrum. it is my god given right to drive anywhere i want whenever i want with no obstructions ever and they took that away from me.

now i'm all for PEACEFUL fund raising, but violently blocking the streets with loud machines is just too much for me. i wish the police would have beaten and pepper sprayed more of those fundraising scum.

ALSO!

i had a beautiful bike ride in the snow yesterday morning. i felt so bad for the faces of all the toy riders, if i was freezing just tooling around on my leg powered bike it must have been 10X worse for them. oh well, i'm sure we all enjoyed it.

(this thread is going in two directions and i like both of them)

Now we're talkin'....

I'm a social liberal and a fiscal conservative.  What's that make me?

Keep dreaming Janet

Not with this city council!

Of course

The entire event was planned, and the city probably knew which roads would be affected, and there may have even been a parade permit...

confused

n/m

i know

it's just a snarky joke.

Heh!

So true... As a temporary measure, I put a turned over dish drainer in there for them, so they can sit up out of the mud. And for a more permanent solution, I conned some guy who hasn't yet realized I hate all men to help me build them a more weather-proof structure next weekend -- if the weather permits. My poor little muddy hens.

i know you know

and I made a snarky reply :-p

Ya know

I keep rewriting some rather biting comments directed towards you right now Janet, but have decided not to.

Mainly because I think I would be wasting my energy on you, and because I it would do me any good to waste time on it.

So consider this note a measure of my restraint.

Funny....

... that hen doesn't actually look mad. More bored and weary. But perhaps I'm projecting.

Try googling

"Wet hen" under images and see what comes of it.  Not much out there, I used what was available.

Ya know, I'm still holding back here...

Janet, I apologize in

Janet, I apologize in advance, but I just can not resist. As soon as I post this I'll get down on my knees and, with proper remorse and humbleness, allow you to kick me.

But...

You keep talking about your hens...why no rooster?...Why do you hate roosters Janet?

Please give me a second grace. Please give me a second face. I've fallen far down, the first time around, now I just sit on the ground in your way.
Nick Drake

Red meat is NOT bad for you. Now blue-green meat, THAT'S bad for you!
Tommy Smothers

LOL

I hate roosters, goddam it! The only thing they're good for is castrating! Why would I invite one into the coop to oppress my hens, eh?

What would your radical lesbihens want

with a rooster anyway?

Lesbihens?

That was drier than the desert on a summer day.

A Central Washington

A Central Washington University graduate. You wanted to go to a party school, but didn't want to pay that much for the pleasure. Or, if you lived in California, a Chico State grad.

What?

Could you rephrase that? I don't understand the assignment.

Janet....

It's working already....LOL

Climb into my silly little mind for a moment and think it through....otherwise I'll PM the answer to you.  I don't want to ruin my fun.

Snow

During the last few minutes snow has started falling out here in McCleary.

To counter any potential snarkiness...

Coyote Pup

Is that a coyote? It looks

Is that a coyote? It looks kind of funny for some reason, I almost thought it was a young wolf.

It's a young coyote

Hasn't taken on that lean and hungry look yet.

A good day for a drive?

So, Phoebe and I were going to go up to Seattle to do some shopping today, but then my mother called me today to tell me that one of the neighbor's kids I used to babysit was killed in a car accident on the freeway yesterday. It's very disturbing. And then there's a possibility that it may snow. Suddenly, I'm spooked about driving on the freeway!

Freeway

I put entirely too many freeway miles on.  People have no clue as to how dangerous they are driving.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Anonymously, grandson and I are going to drive downtown.  I see white flakes in the air and I bought that damned SUV to pull a trailer AND drive in snow.

The Anonymous ThurstonBlogger

Even better day

for a walk then.

Really sorry to hear about the kid you used to babysit...

that's awfully sad, Janet.

Isn't it?

He had a wife and two young daughters. He was 38. But the one I feel for is his mother, my former employer. I'm sure she's just a wreck. Yesterday when we drove on I5, I made Phoebe sit in the middle of the back seat, because that's supposedly the safest place in the car. And she did it!

Today...

...I am hanging "holiday lights" with the lovely and pregnant Mrs. Yoda...in the snow.

Tracker still sucking?

for everyone?

On a nature trail

My daughter and I went to see the salmon at the McLane Nature Trail. If, any one else is interested, there were a lot of salmon making the run (some of which were dead--obviously no longer making the run). The experience was great. I was awed as it really did provide a window looking out at the cycle of life all in one glimpse. Life begins and ends and begins and ends... And it started to snow on us while we were there, very cool.

That's such a nice walk

Phoebe and I have walked around there a lot, and seen (and smelled) the salmon there at times. I also like it in the summer when there are newts swimming around in the pond, and amazingly large dragonflies. I like that walk because it's easy for kids, and so much of it is wheelchair accessible.

I Did The Toy Run

and then picked up my 2 yr. old grandson & brought him back over to play! We're going to watch the MU/OU game tonight since MU is my alma mater and enjoy a dinner of baked chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans!

It's a perfect day!

Anybody getting out, be careful, the roads are starting to get slick!
