Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic marred by hit & run driver. Suspect apprehended. (PI) "A hit-and-run driver marred a Pacific Northwest rite of passage Sunday when he struck and seriously injured a local man who had nearly finished the annual Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic.." "Gerald Marvin, 24, of Seattle suffered serious injuries when the driver of a sport utility vehicle swerved out of his lane on U.S. 30 northwest of Portland. Struck from behind, Marvin slammed into two other cyclists, who suffered minor injuries.." "Police pulled over a 40-year-old driver, an ex-convict with a 1989 conviction for an Oregon murder, eight miles from the accident scene.." The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, driving under the influence and violating his parole, according to the Oregon State Police.."
