I have pasted and/or attached info about the meeting below. All who are interested in OPD issues should sit in on this meeting. Remember, though, that it is a "read-only" meeting--i.e., you can't participate. :(

From Dick Machlan:

September: Our September meeting will be on September 5th, at the usual time and place (6:30 PM in the Council Chambers). At the September meeting, we’ll be talking about recruiting and hiring. Cmdr. Steve Nelson, who is in charge of our Support Services Division, will be providing you with some background information – including letting you get a sample of the video testing instrument we use in our initial screening. Chief Michel also has a couple of his special topics he wants to run by you after our recruiting and hiring discussion is over.

October: We won’t be having a regular meeting on October 3rd. Instead, we’ll all attend a regional gang information session that we and the other law enforcement agencies in the County are co-sponsoring. The session will be held at the Olympia High theatre, 1302 North St., Olympia. I don’t know the times yet, but it will likely be 6:30 – 8:30 PM. I’ll let you know when I have it confirmed.

November: The November 7th meeting will be held at the OPD Training Facility, 6530 Martin Way in Lacey. At this meeting, we’ll be talking about the use of the training facility and about police firearms training. Lt. Ray Holmes will be present to tell you a little about police firearms training. We’ll likely spend some time talking about the October gang session, as well.

Attached are some materials that will help you prepare for our discussion on recruiting and hiring.

See you on September 5th!
