I've found a new restaurant! I have a weakness for Chinese food, specifically a place that makes good almond fried chicken. Here's the story:

A few weeks ago some family called me and asked me to meet them at the new Chinese restaurant on 6th avenue. When I got there ( I was at work ) my family had already ordered for me, and wonder of wonders, they had ordered almond fried chicken. It was awesome! This is a huge plus for a restaurant in my book, but I suppose I should add a little more.

I've been back a few times since to also try out the grill side of the restaurant. The only thing I miss about living in Cheney, was the Mongonlian grill that they had in Spokane. If nobody has been to a restaurant like this, let me explain: You grab a bowl, pick out what you want from the little bar (chicken, beef, pork, noodles, crab, fish, peppers, and various other veggies) put on whatever cooking sauces you want (Sesame oil, garlic, chili oil, cooking wine, ginger, etc.) and take it up to the grill to watch them cook it for you. I'm easily amused, but I really enjoy watching this part. Afterward you get to put on teriyaki, soy, chilli, sesame seeds, whatever. It's good eating, imo.

The wait staff is incredibly nice, and I have yet to wait for seating. All you can eat grill lunch special is $6.95, and it tastes SO much better than fast food joints. If you aren't feeling that hungry, you can just order a Chinese entree. Alcohol appears to be served, but I've only been there for lunch during work, and have yet to try a drink.

If you are looking for all-you-can-eat food, or just good Chinese, I highly recommend Shanghai. I've posted the address below, but just turn left onto 6th off of Sleater Kinney Rd (just past Arby's, at the light) and follow 6th to the second stop light, you will see the Shanghai on the left. I will also include some pictures. WARNING: So not to offend, a few of the pictures contain meat. I will leave those pictures last.

reserved in hell for people like you who post pictures like this and give descriptions of food while your readers are eating chili from a can. In fact it is the same place in hell reserved for people who talk in theaters.

Are they MSG free?

Like you, I have a weakness for good almond fried chicken. I love the stuff they serve at Emperor's Palace. I am going to check out Shanghai now. Thanks for sharing!

I'm not sure. Good question though. I'd give them a call.

One of the reasons I brought this to folks attention, (I know it's in Lacey) is that it's easily within walking distance of the little bus transfer area behind Fred Meyer. Great option if folks are using public transportation imo.

I've not known that to be there. Prior to the Shanghai restaurant taking over the premises, it was Los Piños, which was a pretty good Mexican restaurant (very authentic; their website was even hosted on a Mexican server, with the English-language pages obviously produced by running the original Spanish through a translation program--their Salsa dance nights were advertised as "Music Sauce!") and I was most sad when I discovered they'd closed. Good to know the replacement is good, if different. It almost makes up for Ly Lan (great Vietnamese) on Pacific disappearing and a Salvadorean place springing up in its place. Not that I have anything against Salvadorean (in fact, I'm happy to have th option that close), but Ly Lan was so good...

before it was los pinos it was the old pizza and mining co. Prior to that I think it was a "pizza haven". Correct me if I'm wrong guys. Parts of Lacey are just a blur from my childhood.

6th Ave

If this is the building to the right of the big carpet warehouse, about a 1/4 from the intersection with College St. (North side of 6th Ave.), then it is the old Pizza Place. It closed a long, long time ago. Probably been 10 years or so. Always had a Pole Position console arcade game so I was always there.

6th ave, in Lacey, is that runs from Sleater Kinney out to College st. It runs parallel to Martin Way, it starts at the traffic light that is outside of Target/Sears. The road runs between Arby's on the left, and Office depot/max (same building as value village) on the right. One block down you will have a bus transfer station area, one more light and you will have the restaurant on the left, next to a flooring store, and office buildings on the right. Keep going and you will eventually hit college just short of city hall/Lacey police station.

As a kid I accepted many a trophy in the SE corner of that building. Probably had my first kiss there in the game room. I can't remember because there were pitchers everywhere and you can't really see it as beer through dark red plastic (think Dirty Dave's). You gotta live up to your last name.

The husby has gone there a few times with co workers and has also taken the kids. Everyone was happy with it! Great review. I was going to review a place we went to for lunch the other day but now I feel all lame because I don't have pictures! =)

I was brainstorming at work what I could possibly do, within my own interests, that would be newsworthy for Olyblog. I came up with restaurant reviews, and gun shop reviews. I just happen to have had my camera at work that day so I played around. With good directions and descriptive writing I don't think pics are necessary.
