The Sherwood Press will hold its Late Fall Open House on Friday, December 5th, between noon and 7:00 pm. Come sip some hot spiced cider and nibble something sweet while learning a little about letterpress printing or simply take in the cozy atmosphere of the historic letterpress print shop that founder Jocelyn Dohm and her father Edward built and opened in 1940. As always, you can print a keepsake on the Chandler and Price treadle-operated press, buy stocking stuffers, fall into a nostalgic reverie or even wax poetic in front of a hot fire. So many things are possible!

Celebrating my fifth year as owner of the press, I am also excited to announce the completion of the Dohm-Sayre Bindery-- a new, 200 sq. ft. green-built workshop adjacent to the press. Design/builder Gregory F. Smith will be on hand to talk about the design and construction of this very cool new addition to The Sherwood Press. Check it out!

If you decide to come, keep in mind that the driveway will be available only for elders or the disabled. Others can park at the top of the hill. To get here from downtown, go across the new bridge toward the west side and in the first roundabout go 180 degrees around and straight up the hill on 4th avenue (instead of skirting along the hill to the second aroundabout). At the top of the hill take the first left on Sherman, continue one block to 5th, and then turn left on 5th and go back down the hill about 3/4 of the way. On the right hand side you'll see a green mailbox with the number 811 and a small white sign with an archer (Robin Hood) listing my open hours.
