The Olympian's website – www.theolympian.com – is conducting an on-line poll at the left side of its home page. It asks whether military ships should be at Lakefair. Currently the poll results show 79% in favor of having military ships at Lakefair. Please visit the site and vote NO.

No Ships!

It doesn't much matter because I've just heard second hand, via the mayor, Navy Northwest has notified the Lakefair planners that the USS Ingraham will have more pressing operational priorities.  The Canadian vessels were tied to the US security personnel onboard the Ingraham.  Slight chance Canada will still be here - but they will likely cancel.

I really, really don't understand.

Were ships full of armed service people attending Lakefair, or were they simply boarding/whatever here...?

I have had the hardest time taking these vague posts seriously enough to understand why a vessel full of people going about their business would be of any importance to a FunTastic-Company/Annual tiny town fair.

I can be really dull sometimes.. and I am begging for someone to break the details down...

Seriously...  I'm not trying to cause a negative thread. I'm just incapable of piecing together the events of a boarding ship .. and a simple town fair?

Anyone nice enough to just give some simple details to the luddite?

Thanks (no yelling!)
