Does anyone know of any events happening for the winter solstice? It seems like there ought to be something happening....and I'm not finding it. Thanks!

Sorry to be so vague....

I don't know the details, but I heard the Banda Room, the ashtanga yoga studio at the corner of Fir and State, is having a solstice fundraiser on Sunday. Participants will perform 108 sun salutations as a group, which is a traditional solstice practice. I heard that this event benefits Yoga Behind Bars.

Solstice Red Cedar Circle

Hello,

we will be having a red cedar circle on this night. the red cedar circle is based in the si.si.wiss tradition on the coastal first peoples.

it is an open healing and prayer circle and i have asked folks to bring teachings about what the solstice is. below is the email i sent out. all are welcome.

for further questions email me at flyfreeasabird@gmail.com.

hello dear family,

the moon's circle lines up to the day of winter solstice, december 22nd.

on the shortest night of the year join us for a potluck at 7pm and a red cedar circle will follow the meal.

please feel free to bring drums, solstice teachings, songs, friends, and family. this will be an informal sharing circle and we welcome all ethnicities, traditions, ages, and backgrounds to come and share with us this evening. we are usually done by 10pm.

if the weather allows we will have a fire outside after the circle until late.

in peace and looking forward,

~michael (kate.on.sawgaa) kelly
