I am bothered by Jon Stewart's satire of the war. Although I appreciate his critique of Bush and the War - I think the satire trivializes a tremendously serious issue. It also deflates the emotions around it. Maybe it makes people feel like they are okay just for disagreeing with the war. But it is not okay just to disagree. It is necessary to actively oppose the war, in voice, in song, in writing, in conversation, in political action. Just "being against" it isn't enough. Stewart's satire belittles the suffering that so many Iraqis are going through because of the unjust actions of the US Government under the Bush Administration.

I thought this was the video of the Jon Stewart excerpt you were referring to elsewhere. Except that the snake might be like John Stewart and the MSM (including cable TV), and people who care about how the MSM and political satire affects peoples' attitudes and behaviors regarding the occupation of iraq are like that fuzzy bunny, chasing it up a tree.

naw, different fluffy bunny, hadn't even thought of that. This was an email from a friend titled "redneck entertainment". I was a little horrified at first, he has an odd sense of humor, but felt better afterward.
