Thurston County Dep. Prosecutor Soukup was busted for DUI, but maybe we should have seen this coming. Skelly over at Arbitrary and Capricious has been following this character for awhile. Here are a couple of the good ones: Here is Skelly's entire Soukup archive.

I must be missing something
Submitted by Anonymously Larry on Thu, 06/21/2007 - 3:58pm.I see a story about someone that was found NOT guilty and another that says he has an "adversarial" relationship with a judge (not uncommon on either the prosecution or defense side, but more often on the defense side). Legal tricks (played on both sides, trust me, I've been the recipient) are often something that annoys judges.
As to the recent DUI, he admitted it, thus I doubt that there will be any question as to a conviction of sorts.

a little more than a common "adversarial" relationship

Submitted by Anonymously Larry on Thu, 06/21/2007 - 5:04pm.I recall the response of a judge when my ex-wife admitted that her attorney told her to falsify a domestic report, to get a restraining order, in order to take possession of the house and belongings, AFTER she left the premises for a month (not to mention the fraud on the credit card, but I digress). He was not amused and made note of which attorney told her this little trick. I'll bet he wasn't welcomed in that judge's courtroom.
Meanwhile the trick accomplished what she wanted.
More than one attorney in this world has stretched the rules to win his fight.
