So if the Lincoln Memorial statue (made out of, irony of ironies, Georgian marble) and the Jefferson Memorial statue (made out of bronze), both roughly 20 feet high, went into a knock-down drag-out battle in Washington DC, destroying vast portions of the city in the process over the issue of states' rights, who would emerge victorious?

The real irony

(and the bitter truth) of this hypothetical battle is that the giant statues would be destroying vast portions of a city whose inhabitants don't have some of the political rights we take for granted.

Taxation without representation is alive and well in the District of Columbia... and that's just the beginning.
