So I pick up a pack of gum while shopping the other day. I'm sitting here at work, pop a piece in my mouth and almost instantly get a headache. So the headache hung around and I thought, "Hmm, maybe it's the gum?" read the ingredients and there's all kind of substitute sweeteners in it...lovely. I had to stop drinking diet soda (at least as often as I was) because I kept getting this weird earache...which miraculously went away when I stopped drinking diet coke. So now I try not to drink it often, and I try to stick with splenda versions of sugar-free. Anyone else had similar problems?

Norm - While I don't chew gum much, I l do live on Diet Pepsi Max, Crystal Light because I'm a T2 Diabetic. I've never gotten headaches from any sugar substitutes at all that I'm aware of but do suffer from debilitating migraines here & there but just attibuted them to the weather around here. Maybe you're developing an adverse reaction to work...? LOL!
And just for my own safety, what the heck brand of gum did you chew?! I don't want to buy it!

Submitted by OperaGirl on Tue, 09/18/2007 - 4:14pm.You all need to start drinking water instead of all that other crap!

Submitted by JstPlnOnry on Tue, 09/18/2007 - 4:21pm.But essentially, Crystal Light is just water! There's no sugar or carbs or anything else! Just flavoring! The only flavor of CL I can stand to drink is the Raspberry Lemonade one!
I hate the Pepsi Corporation! That Diet Pepsi Max is the devil in disguise! I think it's worse than meth as far as addiction goes! I've tried in vain to quit drinking it & start having panic attacks when I'm down to one can!
I've tried quitting pop all together, and did pretty good for a while but the caffeine withdrawl headaches were killer.
At night, I get horrible cravings for big glasses of water & then I'm up all night peeing!
I can't win for losing!

OK! I'm Busted!
Submitted by JstPlnOnry on Tue, 09/18/2007 - 4:38pm.I can't start a morning off without a huge travel mug of Hill's Brother's Double Mocha Cappuccino! And while the directions say to use 3 teaspoons of the powder, I have to use 3 1/2 Tablespoons!
Then come noon or so, I need another one... Then around 5ish, another one... Then around 9ish, another one... I have also been known to get up between 2 & 4 in the morning fix one!
And I wonder why I don't sleep well at night & rely on Ambien! ROFL!
