A survey about Olympia media and community.

Hello OlyBlog.

I'm putting effort into learning more about the needs and interests of Olympia residents in relation to news and information, and put together a survey to find out people's thoughts about current news sources, how people find out what's happening in their communities, and what people really want from a news organization.

All the responses will be kept anonymous, and we'll share the results with the community, so everyone can benefit from the shared info.

I'm working on this as part of olywiki.org and the associated blog, olynews.org. The results should be useful for OlyBlog and everybody else working on media projects in the area.

Who are you guys?

So I began filling out the survey and noticed at the end an invitation to participate a bit more with followup questions with "our team". Good and well, but I think the "team" would have more credibility if y'all would identify yourselves while you assure us this thing will be completely anonymous, privacy protected, etc. I respectully suggest more transparancy here. Thanks.

We'll do some website updates and edit the form to do a better job of showing who's working on it.

We'll make the answers public, but won't share your identity or contact info.

In retrospect, I probably would have thought the same thing when I read our post.

In any case

1.  I put up an explanation paragraph on the form. Which should explain what we're trying to do a bit more.  It's up here.


2. Also, despite helping start a very public project and being more or less really visible on every other aspect of the internet, my Facebook profile is set to private. @bsfullerton is good if you want to internet stalk me (or just Google Brian Fullerton, really) or just email me at brianfullerton at g mail dot com if you have a specific question about something.
