It will be held at the Longhouse at Evergreen from 3:30-5:30 this Sunday, March 14th.

Panelists include:

1.    TJ Johnson (Sustainable South Sound board member)
2.    Scott Morgan (TESC Sustainability Coordinator)

Olympia is one of the most progressive towns in the Pacific Northwest. Unique solutions to the daunting environmental and social challenges we face have emerged within numerous areas of the community. However, many citizens are not aware of the various innovations and strategies available for creating and supporting a truly sustainable Olympia.

To help facilitate the process of forging connections between people and organizations that are dedicated to working towards a more resilient and humane community, students from WashPIRG and the Environmental Resource Center are bringing together local leaders from a diverse array of fields, including faith and social justice, green building, progressive education, environmental clean-up, small business, and alternative transportation for our Panel for a Sustainable Community.

Pre-Concert Lecture - 7:00pm
Washington Center for the Performing Arts

Great stories, whether they take the form of literature, film or theater, win awards. The Summer concert is devoted to show tunes of Tony Award-winning musicals-great stories and great songs from "the pinnacle of theatrical excellence."

We'll sing our way through standard themes of awakening love and the passage of time, from South Pacific to Rent. We'll even swing through Avenue Q, Spamalot, and Jersey Boys as we touch on the upbeat and provocative themes of modern musicals. This is a tribute to the composers and lyricists who have brought social consciousness to Broadway to educate, enlighten, and entertain.

The picture at left is of the main entrance to the Rhizome Collective's warehouse. When it began in 2000, it was a burnt out shell of a building with an asphalt parking lot in the center. Since the removal of the asphalt, it has now been changed into a lush, thriving garden. Wood mulch that was otherwise destined for the landfill has been collected for free local tree trimming businesses and spread acroos the courtyard.
