Ever wanted to try rowing (crew), but aren't sure that you want to pay for a class? Drop by the Swantown Marina this Saturday to try rowing with Olympia Area Rowing. They'll take 8-person boats out with a mixture of experienced people and newbies to see what it's like. Best thing - it's totally FREE! Event open to youth and adults.

More info about OAR and directions to the boathouse.

While traveling around town, you may have seen sleek boats gliding along through the waves of Puget Sound. They are almost certainly associated with Olympia Area Rowing, our local rowing club.

OAR's boathouse is located on Swantown Marina and was just constructed three years ago.

This shows one rack out of four within the boathouse. Each rack is double-sided and holds a lot of gear.

Ever watched the sweeps rowing team glide through Puget Sound? Want to learn to row? Now's your chance!

In sweep rowing, each rower has one oar. In sculling, each rower uses two oars.

Note: The class is taught over a span of 11 days, but I didn't want to clutter the calendar. This is the second and final offering of 2008.

Register now, classes fill quickly! More info.
