Affordable Community Acupuncture is finally Here!

So, how many people out there would like to receive regular acupuncture but don't because of the cost? Good News, Community Acupuncture Studio is here to help. We want to seperate the issue of cost and getting acupuncture treatments, and we are going to do this by offering a sliding scale, from $20-$40 per treatment. Portland's Working Class Acupuncture were the first to pioneer this community-style model and several acupuncturist around the country have followed suite. It's about time Olympia got one of it's own!! So what does "community-style" acupuncture mean?? Basically what it means is that there is a group treatment room with a bunch of recliners in it. You don't get a personal treatment room all to yourself, nor do you get to change into a lovely hospital gown, you stay fully clothed. We keep the conversation to a minimum and get down to business quicker. The basis for this model it to treat more people, charge less per person, and remain financially sustainable at the same time. Today was our first day open and our hours will be 1-8pm Tues-Sat. Any help getting the word out is much apreciated!! For more information check out our web-site www.cas-olympia.com, call (360)943-6730, or come by during business hours, 2801 Pacific Ave SE (building is actually on Devoe St). Later this month we will be starting an Oriental Medicine Lecture Series. We will offer 90min. classes, on a sliding scale from $5-$20, on various topics such as "Boosting your Immunity" and "Autumn and the Metal Element". These classes will be held at the clinic on Thursday evenings. Stay Tuned for more info...

Community Acupuncture Studio Opens!!!

Community Acupuncture Studio, Olympia's very first community Acupuncture clinic, opens it's doors for patients today. People can now receive very affordable acupuncture treatments regardless of their insurance status. We offer community-style acupuncture treatments based on a sliding-scale, starting at $20. We will be open 1-8pm Tues-Sat. For more information, check out the web-site, www.cas-olympia.com or call (360)943-6730.

Community Print

The Olympia Free School has their winter catalog out and one of the listings especially intrigues me. Community Print is offering a class Intro to Letter Press.

Here is their description about what Community Print is all about:

Community Print is an Olympia based artist's collective comprised of printers, writers, and rabble rousers of all visual persuasions. We hope to facilitate creative expression and cultural disturbance by sharing access to resources and building a community of artists. Our space is meant as a tool for the creation and distribution of independently published media and art.

We have a selection of type and 2 proof presses for hand set letterpress printing, silkscreening facilities, bookbinding and paper making supplies, and a handmade book and zine library. We provide workshops and volunteer run studio hours as well as resources and information on the printing arts.

Our goal is to encourage growth and change in our world by providing a space for ideas to come together and tools to cultivate meaningful work.
