May 20 2008 - 4:00pm May 20 2008 - 6:00pm Please show your support for impeachment and a change in Congress. Challenge Congressman Brian Baird on his failed policy of support for the "Surge", his lack of support for impeachment, and his continued willingness to vote for funding military belligerence and the illegal occupation / war of aggression against Iraq. Citizens actively opposed to Congressional inaction on Impeachment will peaceably assemble outside of and near to the Olympia office of Congressman Brian Baird tomorrow, Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 from between 4pm to 6pm. Please attend any or all of the 2 hour event. Join in and express your will to create a better society and a better world... continue reading Many citizens desire holding our elected officials ("public servants") accountable. The White House, Congress and associated interests have demonstrated a blatant, flagrant and callous disregard for human rights and the rule of law in regard to the foreign policy of global dominance and the projection of the fist of militarism over the world. The posture of aggression is unneighborly. The foreign policy actions of the Federal Government, the decisions made by certain members of government (and the inchoate crimes therein) are illegal according both domestic and international law. We don't allow bullying in our schools. So, if it's not fit for a kindergarten classroom, then it's definitely not fit for a foreign policy! Please join your fellow citizens tomorrow, Tuesday May 20, and make your voice heard loud and clear. Impeachment is a moral necessity and it is also a necessity according to the rule of law. Funding the war is immoral. The war is illegal. Hold our elected officials accountable! Let's start with Congressman Brian Baird. I have a tip that Washington State 3rd Congressional District Candidate Cheryl Crist will be there, so if you're interested in learning more about her or her campaign for Congress, then there's another reason to show up. Please bring your own sign and your voice! Congressman Baird's 3rd District Olympia Office is located at 120 Union Avenue SE (the former motel looking building) in Downtown Olympia, Washington 98501. Please pass this on to everyone in your network! |

The House of Representatives
Submitted by Laurian on Mon, 05/19/2008 - 5:40pm.Proper Venue for trial of President Bush, Vice President Cheney
Submitted by Robert Whitlock on Mon, 05/19/2008 - 9:39pm.What is the proper venue to try President Bush and Vice President Cheney, et al. for crimes against humanity and war crimes?
Of course, there might be a number of other proper venues. The International Court of Justice might be more proper. But the House of Representatives certainly seems quite proper in and of itself.
I have a hard time seeing why the House of Representatives would not be the "proper venue" for such a trial.
Global impact
Submitted by chad360 on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 3:34am.The US needs to be held accountable to the world, not just US citizens.
Our elected officials gave the Admin the ball for this game, so I can't see the US Congress (in any form) making a good trial house.
In fact, under current US law, the current Admin is not violating/breaking any laws, regardless of how much 'blog talk there is-
I'd start with the "The End of America" by Naomi Wolf, she does a good re-count of what has happened and what is going on:
MCA, war powers, P. Acts 1&2, etc...
My2cents: I'd vote for War Crimes Trials for Bush, Cheney, and Rove...there are more, but hopefully they'd be implicated during the trial =)
