While some downtown merchants are cheering the move, other business owners near the new location at 1009 E. Fourth Ave. are leery.

What must not be overlooked in this move is the fact that the advocacy center fills a pivotal role in this community. Bread & Roses serves a vulnerable population of homeless men, women and children, many of whom are struggling with addiction and mental health issues.

Thanks to the olympian for it's kind words. The comments are filled, again, with the "i wish it were legal to hunt the homeless" crowd. The comment from the first article, about a week ago, written Rolph Boone, really got me down. This time, not so much. We had our open house yesterday, and it was packed, literally a packed house. We had a huge meal and a discussion, Fast Rattler played music, it was beautiful. People from many walks of life came together and had a great time. That's what Bread and Roses is really all about. If homelessness went away, we would probably organize big neighborhood block parties and invite the whole town to come down and appreciate one another without blinders.
