Two Biomass Incinerators Proposed for Shelton - Public Health Threatened - Puget Sound Clean-up Set Back At least 35 airborne pollutants would be emitted by each burner in Shelton. Among them: Dioxins, mercury, lead, carbon monoxide, chloroform, formaldehyde, sulfurous acid, and particulate matter. Particle pollution diminishes lung function, causes greater use of asthma medications and increased rates of school absenteeism, emergency room visits and hospital admissions.
