I just posted up the last of eight posts about the applicants for the empty seat on the Olympia City Council. So, who do you like?

I set up a poll here that allows you to rank your choices for city council. Here is a link to see the results so far.

For me, in reading and

For me, in reading and thinking about the choices for the council, here is my ranking:

1. Danielle Westbrook
2. Amy Tousley/James Reddick
3. Joan Machlis
4. Jim Boyde
5. Karen Rogers
6. Ann Varpness/Karen Veldeer

Danielle, Amy and James are really all tied for first, but I put Danielle on top becuase I know here and because I like the passion and clear thought she put into her application. But, either one would be a great councilmember. After that, each applicant either lacks the experience I think is appropriate or is someone I just don't want on the council.

But, don't forget to go here and vote. Here is a link to read the applications and my reviews.

Great set of posts, Emmett

I can see how much work you put into this. Just browsing through those applications was challenging. I did a speed run through them, so I might have made some mistakes. But here are the results: My first choice was Westbrook. Then came (in order) Rogers, Machlis, Tousley, Varpness, Reddick, Veldeer, and Boyd.

The City Council faces a difficult decision.

FW: access denied council vote

From Meta, here:

My response to emmett's thread was blocked, obviously by politically-motivated evil petty censoring docents, so I am reposting it here.

My top three choices for appointment are Danielle, James and Joan. I think the new council will have a tendency to be kind of a getalong gang, and I hope the appointee will be capable of thinking outside "team" when necessary. I also hope the appointee will not take too seriously their debt to the members who voted for them. I don't have much hope for a truly well-rounded council for the next two years, but it could be much worse.

BTW, I love that saying "getalong gang." Yeeeehaw!
