...is that Quality Burrito re-opens today.

I had chips and salsa with my drinks a few nights ago. Home-made chips! It was crazy.

Word in my belly...

is that it did indeed open today and the Bacon Breakfast Burrito is as good as ever.

Salivating

Burritos of quality...a subject near and dear to my heart and yet another reason why I am beyond excited to be moving to Olympia. Languishing for years in the heart of the Bible Belt, one bright light during my college days in Athens, GA and beyond was a place called Barberitos (http://www.barberitos.com). Unfortunately that establishment has moved from its Indy roots into the franchised corporate zone, so to envision a burrito shop for the people is truly wonderful indeed.

Did anyone ask or do you

Did anyone ask or do you know why QB wasn't open or serving food?

I've tried Quality Burrito and I know people seem to like it and all but I just can't seem to see or taste what everyone else is talking about. For my money its all about the Westside or Lacey Taco Trucks.

Darrow... let me be one of the first to extend an advanced welcome to Oly.

Westside Taco Truck

Is that the truck that sits in the parking lot of Northwest Snowboards on Harrison?

If it is, I hear really good things about that truck!  It's always got a long line of people waiting to order!

The Appeal

..is that Quality Burrito is Queer friendly and has Vegan options.

They also have a Bacon-Steak-Potato burrito that I can't help but ordering every time i go in. I never finish more than half, and always have more for dinner later.

So yeah that is one of the

So yeah that is one of the two taco trucks I speak of... They are awesome and worth the rave reviews they get. I love that stuff. Beware addiction may soon follow.

I actually went to a Taco Truck in Chelan a couple weeks ago to compare as I thought for sure Eastern Washington trucks could compete. While it was good it didn't come close to our own taco trucks.

About QB yeah I'm gonna have to give it another whirl says co-workers... And that is the exact burrito I ordered last time. In my opinion it seemed too rich, and lacked a fresh component. No doubt it is some great late night bar food.

Ha..

QB is a place that you can go for that sort of thing exactly.. on a whole the environment doesn't really feel very clean or well lit, and sometimes you can smell the people about three booths away from you.. but thats QB for you.

No,

YOU can smell the people three booths away because YOU have mutant nostrils. Nobody else can smell them, it's just you, you're all alone.

I COME FROM ANOTHER TIME AND PLACE....

...where showers and weren't seen as privilege .. but as necessity. Having a body means taking care of it.

Being in Olympia doesn't mean subscribing to some insane and unwritten law of "Showering isn't natural". The earth hippie logic only applies to those applying some amount of hygiene. Not none.

It's okay to bathe. And hey.. washing clothes doesn't hurt.

hmm

blogging while drunk again I take it?

busy..

Doing footnotes for someone's APR.

Besides, knowing when people need to bathe shouldn't burden people who aren't voluntarily acting as  social workers.

Raising the Roof

So I also heard today that QB was closed so they could "raise the roof" or well it sounded like they removed their false ceiling. Way to go, I really hate that false ceilings and especially love the high ceiling thing.

Raise the roof!

It actually feels much more spacious and light in there now, plus some of the leftover cigarette odor from Chinatown seems to have gone away with the false ceiling. I am partial to the PMS burrito, but you're right, it's not about the fresh vegetable vibe with most of their burritos. I like to go there when I want a carb and dairy fix. As far as taco trucks go, I like the California Taco truck by Fred Meyer in Lacey. The one that parks on 8th-ish and Capitol isn't too shabby, either.

California Taco Trucks

Yeah the one out in Lacey is the same owners as the Westside truck by Northwest Snowboards. The California Taco Trucks are by far superior to others I have tried although I know great taco trucks are out there it may be that better ones are out of state.

If anyone is ever in Centralia you have to go to La Tarasca. It is truly some awesome traditional Mexican cuisine. Many many many people claim it is the best in Washington State and I'd be hard pressed to argue with that idea. The owners serve up specialties from their home region of Michoacan Mexico.

No La Tarasca is on the way

No La Tarasca is on the way into downtown but not in downtown Centralia.

La Tarasca is really good

Map to La Tarasca

I appreciate a good taco wagon, and my favorite is also in Centralia/Chehalis.

It's in a very unlikely location, behind the old Yard Birds shopping center. They take their time making all the ingredients fresh on the grill in front of you.

Unlike some places that let everything just simmer down to a paste all day.

Also they have Salvadoran food, so you can get some tasty pupusas if you want to try something different.

I love El Puerco Lloron in Seattle

It's half way down the stairs behind the Pike Place Market. I’ve been eating there for 23 years and have never been disappointed, except for the one time they changed their menu (and then there was that time I had the stomach flu). The food, atmosphere, and staff are very the real deal and there's always someone making fresh tortillas behind the counter. Pick a rickety table outside with a view of the Sound and enjoy a cheap, fun, and tasty lunch in downtown Seattle. I think so anyway. Check out the place place.

Always with Seattle!

This is OlyBlog, not SeaBlog. If you love Seattle so much, why don't you marry it?

Well some of us enjoy

Well some of us enjoy getting out of town and going to Seattle from time to time. Personally made a note of that suggestion.

I've seen that place over the years and never went in. I'll have to drop by sometime.

Also in Seattle... Is Agua Verde and it is also very good. I hardly make a lunch time trip to the U-District without passing it up. http://www.aguaverde.com/cafe.htm

Just having a little fun. I

Just having a little fun. I grew up in Portland and with that comes a rivalry against Seattle for the "best" in the NW title. In recent years I've spent a lot of time in Seattle and it's really grown on me.
»

I remember I grew up in

I remember I grew up in Seattle and I'd say Portland used to take a back seat. Not these days. I'd say progressive Portland has surpassed it's one time rival in a big way.

Besides food... Portland is owning the coffee thing and Stuptown is doing it better than any of the Seattle rivals. Not only that, Stumptown has even moved into Seattle recently.

Yeah, Stumptown!

Portland has also taken the front seat on gentrification, unfortunately.

Oldtime Dave

Can you give me some recommendations on what to order at the westside truck?  I'm dying to try it now!

Boy Onry...

I don't know if you can go wrong there. Everything is good. I might be too late for a reccomendation but... I usually get the burrito. Steak, Chicken, Pork it doesn't matter which. Also the taco plates are very good.

This company is also very cool too. They catered a co-worker of mine's wedding. That was a blast needless to say. A great idea.

La Tarasca and Quality Burrito

You all are making me hungry. La Tarasca is outstanding and the owners/staff are friendly and very gracious hosts. Can someone tell me where QB is at? I am drawing a blank right now. Thanks and have a great day!

Quality Burrito

On a map.

Right across from the Reef.

You might find QB on the map but I usually find it across the street from the King Solomon's Reef.
